  Master Plan

Deer Ridge, River Grove and North Park developed in a piecemeal fashion during the last three decades. This piecemeal development resulted in sub-optimal use of the land. Since late 2008, a subcommittee has been:

  • Interviewing sports and community groups to identify current and future needs
  • Benchmarking parks in other communities
  • Defining the characteristics of showcase facilities
  • Exploring alternatives to the current system of leases
  • Outlining low-cost, medium and showcase alternatives for the parks
  • Polling community associations to determine their preferred alternative
  • Qualifying and interviewing landscape architects
  • Obtaining bids for the development of a master plan
Kingwood’s community associations voted to explore the showcase option with the caveats that any plan adopted would have to be affordable and sensitive to current economic realities.
