Under the new Master Plan, Deer Ridge would remain a mixed-use park housing the same activities it does now. However, the location of activities would change.
The center of the park provides the only area large enough to provide a quad layout for baseball.
By moving baseball to the center of the park and the stables to the south end, we can provide more room for both.

Improvements:
If adopted, the proposed plan would:
- Create a quad- and tri-plex for baseball in the park’s center
- Make all baseball fields (with the exception of one) regulation size
- Enable tournament play
- Add two new fields
- Consolidate baseball fields in one area
- Put fields of equal sizes next to each other
- Add a dedicated maintenance area
- Add two new restroom areas
- Add two new concession stands
The quad and tri-plex enable better sharing of:
- Lights
- Concession stands
- Restrooms
- Walkways
Additional improvements, if approved, include:
- Up-to-code lighting
- Basketball and tennis closer to the road for improved security
- Playground closer to the gazebo
- New picnic pavilion
- Wooded picnic areas
- Addition of walking trail in woods
- Approximately 200 new parking spots
- Approximately 25% more land for stables
Moving the stables generated a considerable amount of controversy. If a better, more spacious location can be found for the horses before construction begins, this could open up 10+ acres for other uses.
KSA has committed to exploring alternative spaces for the horses that could provide more space and better pasture. Since Deer Ridge will be the last park to be developed, this gives us time to explore options. If we do not find better space, we intend to keep the horses in Deer Ridge.
